I am after a more sturdy tripod than my old one which gave rather poor results last night. Probably go for a ball head too. Was thinking of a Redsnapper? What would you all recommend?

Depends on what type of photography you do, your budget and height. If you're quite tall, say 6 foot and above, then a standard tripod of 1.5m high will probably end up killing your back bending over all the time..

The more info you give the more we'll be able to help

Well, I am just under 6'. Im what you could call a general photographer. I'd like to take some nightime shots and cityscapes et plus fireworks and suchlike. Dont think Id need one of the Yoga practicing ones that can get into funky positions for macro.
Just something sturdy that'll give me good night shots. Pricewise, not too much, about £100 or so?

Have a look at the Redsnapper.
It's very good for the price and a fair few of us here have one.

I have a redsnapper, and took it out for my first play today. Really impressed with it. Great quality and really sturdy. You would be hard pushed to get anything better for the money.

I have just got a Redsnapper to, and it does seem like a total bargain - very solid and well made, and cheap too !

If you do a search on the forum for redsnapper i'm sure you'll find lots of happy customers.

I've had the redsnapper with ball head for a few weeks now. Well pleased with it. Strong and sturdy. All for just under £100 with TP discount.

another one for redsnapper:thumbs:
have a look at ffords they are selling a lot of ex-demo stuff at the moment
