Hello,

Well there isn't much I could do recently with no CF card for my camera so I have just been playing around with it linked up to my pc.

Just wondering on what I should get now. Things I can think of are:

Camera Bag
Screen Protector
Zoom Lens
Battery Grip
Macro Lens

Also after having a play with it, the kit lens is a bit... well rubbish. The focus moves up and down and the zoom is poor. So I was thinking can is there a better... all rounder lens?

I don't really have any money soon but Christmas is coming so I can get family to get the cheap stuff like a bag and battery grip.

So recommend away!

I really like the canon kit lens...you think it feels bad, get a nifty fifty :p thats a propper toy.

All I could add to that list is:

Spare CF Card
Second battery for grip
Tripod (just a cheep one if you dont use it much)
Filters (ND Grads to help with sky exposures)
erm.......

EDIT - Only my opinions...not bad advice (hopefully) :p

1 photoshop cs3
2 tripod
3 inspiration

no

1 inspiration
2 tripod
3 photoshop cs3

Photoshop Elements if you want to do it legally :p

/me waits for Alexisonfire to recommend Paint Shop Pro

I have Adobe Design Premium CS3 so that's that one sorted.

Tripod is a good one. I would like to do some long exposures.

I think my family's computer has paint shop pro lol.

Filters. Added.

Inspiration. That I have. It's getting that in the finished image which I find hard.

Yeh I hope this isn't all bad advice you are giving me. It's going to cost! :p

These are just a few cheap things I haven't got round to buying yet but might be useful to you.

If you have not even been out with the camera because of having no memory card then you are a bit premature in writing off the kit lens. Use it for a month or two at least before you consider replacements. The kit lens is a lot better than you might think from the look of it ;)

Read the forums for a while and use what you have. You will soon work out what new toys you want/need.

Yes the kit lens isn't great, but for a starting lens it's fine. I used it for a couple of months before upgrading.

You need to get the basics (memory card is the first thing you need) before you start spending money on things like battery grips and extra lenses.

Oh and don't buy cheap filters.
