I've recently moved over to Canon and purchased the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 along with it. Now I need a mid-range zoom lens to go along with it.

I generally shoot motorsport but trying to get more into nature and landscape side of things as well. With my previous gear I had a 18-105mm, 70-300mm, and a 35mm prime. I found myself shooting a lot between the 18-80 range. My budget is around £500.

I have looked into three lenses so far in that price range the Canon 18-105mm F/4L and the Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8, or do I save more and get the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8. I have also looked into getting the Canon 60mm F/2.8 Macro lens. I don't want to buy a lens then sell it a few months later for something else I was going to get.

All your help is appreciated.

You've got quite a mixed list there Martin, It sounds like you're looking for a walkabout lens but the first two would suggest you're using a crop body and the latter would suggest FF.
The 24-70 on a FF body would probably be a bit too wide so on that note I would add the Canon 15-85 to your list, it has a great range and the IQ is outstanding, it would also work well for landscapes.
Also, are you sure macro is your thing?
What I mean is don't spend silly money on a macro lens unless you definitely want to take macro shots, it's a lot of money's worth of glass to be mostly sat in a bag or be used where a cheaper prime (such as a canon 50mm 1.4) might do.
This is one of those situations where you have to seriously think which direction you want your photography to go in and spend your money wisely.
I've had a couple of beers so does that make sense? :D

Canon 18-135 stm
Canon 15-85
Canon 17-55
Canon 24-105
Sigma 18-35 F/1.8
Canon 50mm F1.8
Canon 85mm F1.8

I would go for the
Sigma 18-35 F1.8 £539 and
Canon 50mm F/1.8 £75

If you've got a Canon aps-c camera then I'd suggest the canon 15-85 or 17-55. There are some very good prices available on these as used lenses.
If it's full format then a very good condition used Canon 24-105L would be within reach.

The canon 24-70 is simply stunning! But downsides are its very heavy for a walkabout and not very well balanced unless on a 5d mk ii/iii.

Just read your budget. Forget about the 24-70 then!

Sorry I should have mentioned, I have the 70D. Everything Makes sense so don't worry about the few beers, meaning you must not of had enough at that point.

I'd like to think getting into macro would be something for me, with the details on the car and wildlife/ insects in the fenland.
