What Makes Expensive Cameras Expensive

Interesting watch; nothing I didn’t already know, but some will find it useful.

Hi, It's not the red dot. There must be something else ... :

Thank goodness that Leica made a full frame point & shoot.

M mount's manual focus & manual aperture has too high of a barrier to entry.

I've looked at a few "red dot" models and none of them are anything like as nice and re-assuring as Leitz's "cheap" M2, let alone the M3.

I think that Panasonic's G9 comes as close as anything I've tried, to the comforting feel of an M3.

Hi, I only write about cameras I own and use, which could keep me busy. In 1989 I bought a LEITZ/Leica M6, used it till 2003 when I went digital, and still have it. I was satisfied with it.

In 2010 I bought a Leica M9 I still use. I like the CCD rendering. So much so, that I bought a used M9 a few years ago.

Like all technical devices, Leica cameras have their strengths and limitations.

Which is why I also use SONY and NIKON. Every now and then I even use my first mirrorless cam, the OLYMPUS Pen EP-1.
