Guys, I havo no experience in portraits and have no idea what kind of light do I need for it.
What I want to do is to make some nice portrait shots in living room and looking for advice what kind of light I need and how cheap can I get it.
Also will make some shots of products...

Don't know if I need sft box or umbrella - please advise!

I have Pansonic GF-1 with 20mm 1.7 lens and that is ALL I have.

Would something like this be enough or do I need something else?

Frankly, no. Tungsten lights are pretty hopeless, incredibly hot and you'll just roast everything.

To have a reasonable stab at what you want to do and develop good studio skills, you should really be looking at a starter two-head studio flash kit. £400-500 upwards from Bowens, Lencarta or Elinchrom. There are others, but those are good brands.

You can do basic portraits much cheaper - one head with a shoot-through brolly and a reflector. A decent hot-shoe gun can be pressed into service for this.
