I've been perusing the various online retailers from the Nikon site....It amazes me the differences in prices....some are quite good and others not so...

One site has two different kits and I was wondering about the lens that is offered with each...

Not decided what one to go for yet the D5000 or the D90...but if I can get the right price it would be the D90...Anyway the kit I am on about is the D5000...

The lens is either a 18-105mm VR Lens or a 18-55mm VR Lens

the first going for a price of 669.97 - £50 cash back...
the second is £549.99 - £50 CB...

What difference is there in the two lenses? I've only got into the camera bodies so far and have not a notion about lenses..

I realize the higher priced one must be better...but what are the differences between the two and what kind of pics are they used for...and is the better lens worth the price?

Please forgive if my questions are too simple....if they are covered in detail elsewhere point me in the right direction and I'll see ya right:naughty:

The 18-105 goes from 18mm focal length (wide angle) to 105mm (short telephoto), the 18-55 goes from 18mm to 55mm (standard).

With it's greater range the 18-105 would be my choice, as it gives the extra reach to zoom in on objects / subjects, and it produces some nice images from what I have seen on the web.

18 - 105 Sample Images

They both have VR (Vibration Reduction) to prevent blur from camera shake.
