what lens to take on holiday?

I am going on holiday to the states quite soon, and I have a D7000, a 35mm 1.8G lens and my newest edition 50mm 1.8D....

I am planning on taking some landscapes, family shots, pet shots, street shots, etc....apart from my kit lens, these are the only lenses I own. I dont know if I should take one or both....
 
I recently went abroad. Instead of taking a point and shoot, I bought a second hand Nikon D70 and chucked on a 35mm. You could pretty much throw it around on the beach (within reason) and still take home some awesome shots.

What did I find erk'd me the most? Should've gone wider. I'd take your kit lens, i'm guessing its an 18 to something?
 
If it is kit lens +1 then take the 35mm.... You can always crop:)
 
18-105mm VR is the usual kit lens for a D7000. I still wish they'd VR'd the 18-135mm. With the new colour fringing correction, it could have been the perfect kit lens.

I took the 35mm f1.8 with me last year for ambient light shots in the evenings, and the kit lens did most of the rest.
I find the 50mm on a crop sensor a bit long for general use, and constantly feel the need to step back. The 35mm is far more usable.

Just use the same lens that you would use when you're at home.
You'll probably find that taking landscape shots is not that much different in the US.

Unless you go to Texas, where everything is bigger - I assume they mean "wider" :D
 
[sneaky]If you want to upgrade either lens, leave it at home. If you're somewhere where there's a camera store that sells kit at a reasonable price, whinge that you need the left-at-home focal length and buy the upgrade![/sneaky]
