Hey Guys
Im pretty new to this whole interchangeable lens idea, mainly because I could only afford a kit lens before :'(.
Could anyone give me an idea of the best lenses out there for documented photography?
As all ways any help would be appreciated :)

I love my 35mm prime.

Maybe something like a 35mm or 50mm prime would be a good investment, cheap too!

You have already started another thread asking about a new camera. It would be more beneficial for you if you ask all your questions in one thread as they are closely related so you may get better answers ;)

70-200 f/2.8 is what springs to mind looking at your work.
Big and heavy though (but I wouldn't worry about that, the weight it will lift from your wallet more than compensates :naughty:)

Small prime lenses like the 35mm or 50mm mentioned will also give you great image quality and a fast aperture for shooting in low light.

Do you find the aperture range on your 18-105 satisfactory? Or do you find yourself needing something faster?

My primes, love the quality from them.

That i own - Canon 50/1.4
That i want - Canon 70-200/2.8 IS II

For documented photography? probably one of the zeiss ones

toss up...

Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for wide creative shots (on a crop sensor)
Vivitar 28mm f2.5 M42 - manual but its the one I like on there atm! - 35mm f1.8 might be good as its af, but I dunno as I haven't got one
Nikkor 105mm micro (macro lens)

Really depends on what I'm trying to take a pic of...

theyre all my favourite, i wouldnt have them if they werent, but for completely different reasons..

sig 120-300 f2.8 - must have fast sports lens with plenty of range in my opinion
sig 70-200 f2.8 - nice and light, great for sports needing less length and portraits needing a bit of range
sig 50 f1.4 - a must have just for the bokeh

If I still had my 1D I'd have said 70-200f2.8, but now I hardly seem to use it, most of the time its the Canon 50mm f1.4 on my 5D.

Def my Nikon 70-200 f2.8, spanking lens, quickly followed by the 24-70 f2.8

Out of the few that I've owned my current Tamron 17-50 f2.8 nonVC is my fav.
