I keep noticing this type of Fungi on trees whilst out and about in woodland with my dogs, I've never noticed it before ! any ides what it is ? Sorry about the photo but I only had my phone with me.

My guess - Golden Jelly Fungus (Witches Butter).

Not an expert though. :)
 
Yep witches butter.

Can be eaten too ( according to sources!), not that I ever have.
 
Be 100% sure of any fungal identification before eating - some are deadly while many more are delicious. You really don't want to get it wrong!
 
Also known as yellow brain fungus. I think it's one of those that's classed as edible only in that it won't kill you if you do eat it. I don't think it's worth eating............. but maybe with a good sauce........
 
Thanks everyone and as said before what a wonderful set of names. It stands out like a sore thumb and looks like something someone has attached to the tree as it is so bright in an otherwise damp dark sleeping woodland.
 
I'm reminded of something I heard years ago. Any fungi you collect to eat should be divided into three portions. The first portion is for you, the second is for the doctor and the third is for the coroner.
