What is the x250 sutter speed?

Hi all

On my new D7000 there's a shutter speed that I've not come across before: X250.

What is this shutter speed and what's it for?
By my testing it just seems to be really really really short...

It's the one that comes after Bulb, right? Yeah, it's just a quick way of getting to the flash sync speed.

If you go into your menu, you can alter it to 1/320. Not a massive difference, but every little helps.
