Just a quick question.

What is the life expectancy for an Image stabalizer?

I'd like to know what you'd expect.
Please add whether you'd expect more if it was a pro lens.

This thread is relevant to my interests! lol. I think you may also get a better answer if you are specific about which brand, and type you mean. Do you mean in camera, or in lens? And if lens, what brand and series. I know the IS Canon use is different on some of the cheaper EF-S lenses like the 18-55mm and the 55-250mm, I think its a derivative of the type it uses in it's compacts, whereas the system used on some of its larger lenses is more comprehensive... and as such maybe have a different life expectancy.

Preferably in lens. I don’t want to discriminate ;) so its open to all.
I want to know the general consensus from the paying public.

my Canon 17-85 EF-S IS is now about 4 years old and the IS is going strong :)
