I have a Optech strap, and find it is the best strap if you want to have a camera around the neck but grips too much if you have the camera around the shoulder.

I find that a traditional strap works best if using two cameras, with one on each sholder or one on the neck and one on the shoulder.

I have just seen this http://blackrapid.com/ this looks like a good idea, but just as importantly the video is really funny:lol: (very usa) and well worth a look.

What does everone else think, or use when carrying large lenses (70-200 f2.8 / 100-400 / 300 etc) or two bodies?

I can see why it's called the R Strap :) actually looks very handy.

Looks a bit bonkers to me. Could see myself catching my camera on all sorts of stuff with it being on my hip.

I use an Upstrap quick release strap that I got from here www.upstrap-pro.com

It is great. Very tough and will not slip at all off my shoulder. I have been really impressed with it and will be getting another one soon.

Chris :)

I do like the look of that R strap, will have to look out for them becoming available this side of the pond. I'm currently working out the best solution for carrying 2 cameras at a time.

At the moment I have one optech which I string low and use with the long lens body. As it is strung low I can get it up to my eye without the strap needing to slide at all, handy if you have a backpack on.

My other body just has the standard strap which is generally just wrapped around my wrist or slung over one shoulder when not in use.

I've been looking at the R-strap. I emailed them asking about their plans to sell in the UK, and also if it's possible to use two at a time, as this could be great for carrying two bodies at a wedding.

The Rstrap looks well good I just wonder what its like with my Lowepro bag on my back at the same time as will be the case most the of the time I take photos out and about.

Have they got back to you yet icecavern?

i have an nikon f, an f2 and a d70 and I can't figure out what is the best strap.

Got one of the R Straps for my uncle as a present, but not given it to him yet ...... Might buy him something else and keep the strap for me :D

I believe the best straps are the Talk Photography ones but seeing as I never quite got round to ordering one mysel I can only go on what a friend says!

where did you buy it from as im very interested and i have looked on google but all i find is reviews and videos about the strap thanks

Ive ordered an R-Strap RS2. On backorder, but should be a nice alternative to the Optech strap if I just want to take the camera and one lens with me. :)

They look ok, just ordered one, lets see how long it takes.:)

Another thumbs up for the R-strap I bought one direct from Black Rapid about a month ago and I,m really pleased with it, I got the strap with the extra bits on for your phone etc, wish I just got the plain strap though.
They're bringing out a camo strap this month apparently, so might get me one of those.

Not sure I like the fact that the fastener screws in to the tripod mount, as it looks like there is no way then (without unscrewing it) to attach it to a tripod....

Anyone who has one tell me how this works? Is there some kinda quick release or do yo have to unscrew it etc etc?

RE: the R Strap...

I wouldn't want all the weight of a big lens/body swinging all over the place, if a large lens is continually "bounced" the mounting will soon fail by fatigue, i wouldn't want that happening to my camera/lens!

I have the TP OPTech strap with the addition of a couple of clips either end for quick release:

Why do you wish you got the RS-1 instead? A cammo one? Mmmm, might have to get one of those as well, lol.

You don't need the big screw thing to attach it to the tripod mount. If your tripod quickrelease plate has a D-Ring screw, you can attach it to that instead. Then all you have to do it unclip the strap and push the D-ring flat.

I bought a "R" strap on 15th April and still have not got it yet.

No contact from them saying it was going to be delayed. I have now sent them two emails ... Which as far as I can tell have been ignored.

Not pleased and will not be ordering anything else from this company ... :(

Website now says its on 3-4 weeks backorder, and its 10 days delivery. So you (And I) might be in for a long wait. :(

PS - not me!!!! (I have some hair) :bonk:

lmao

The very kind people at the Post Office put a card through the door saying that they would not let me have it until I gave them the cash.

Had to go to the local sorting office to pick it up.

I paid £35 for the strap and nearly £12 in duty etc ....

Boo to the silly customs people! I don't mind paying £12 so much, but I really hope I don't get stung on my Gitzo tripod im getting from the US. :(
