I have been looking for a 50mm f1.8 lens on the bay of evil and there is quite a few but seems some folks don't know how to sell items properly.
Typical example is in the description "Condition is used, dispatched with eBay packlink" who would actually buy something with a description like that, certainly not something I would even consider.

If you want to sell something then make it appealing to a prospective buyer and at least give a decent description of the item. anyway, rant over, back to looking for something with a decent description.

I agree, I generally try to provide as much detail as I can though sometimes, especially with a Takumar, you just gotta say it does what it should and in a smooth, buttery kind of way :D

Wherever possible, when I am selling vintage lenses, I get an adapter and take pictures with the actual lens and post those in the description as well as pictures of the lens itself. So far I am on a good run of positive feedback but.....

Good luck in your search, I find with eBay it is worth being patient as good sellers with good examples are out there.

Don't get me started. I've just been thru it will a seller who charged £10 for RM Special Delivery then sent it via standard 1st Class Mail and can't understand what he's done wrong or why he should refund the postage charge.

Don't let him get away with it Dunc. It is against the rules for him to do that.

I've been buying on Ebay for many years and my experience has been overwhelmingly good, although the only S/H photo gear I have bought has always been from the ads on here.
I have never had a problem when buying from the classifieds on here and would definitely recommend anyone thinking of buying used gear to look at them first.

There are plenty of trader idiots everywhere.

Leaking toothpaste from Amazon. Tick. Idiots packed it in A3 cardboard envelope

Leaking fuel additive from eBay . Tick. Inadequate packaging. They sell thousands. When will they learn?

Usb 3 gen 2 cable capable of only usb 2 speeds. Tick. On the way back.

But I have plenty of good examples too. It's a bit unfair to put everyone else down due to a few bad apples

long list of morons on ebay.

easy to spot and avoid them though.

some classics are,

no photo of item.
item photo so dark you cant see it.
item photo looks like it was taken on the worst camera ever invented.
no description at all.
stock photo used.

I believe that’s now the default description embedded into a listing for a used item, reflecting the chosen postage method. The lazy gits just don’t bother changing, or adding to it.
