Just watching a bit of daytime telly (I know!) and I see this young guy with earings.
I'm an old-fashioned type (comes with the age I guess) but I've never understood things like earings, moisturisers and cosmetics on blokes.
I think I've got a bit of a 'feminine side', I sort of like babies and stuff like that but other than shaving and using the inevitable aftershave that's about as far as I go.
So as title ... what is it with blokes and earings?

Don't mind small discrete ones on men like studs can look cool, its the messed up stretched out dildos with bin lids in there lobes.....whoaaaa

"Cos i'm an o.a.p....old aged punk!
Had them up both ears and my nose, long before nose piercings were in vogue and did them all myself.
Have a small gold sleeper halfway up my left ear now, after years of being unable to wear them due to the job.

Its been around for years and years, but no, I don't get it either.
Nor the studs in tongues / eyebrows / nipples and other assorted places.

Agree with all of that except I cannot stand babies.

Don't shave or wear perfume but do have a stretched lobe piercing. Can't stand children!

I know it is a tradition amongst fishermen to wear an earring in order to "pay the ferryman", and a quick google got me a bit more on this info. The link at the end puts the timescale in focus!

Among sailors, a pierced earlobe was a symbol that the wearer had sailed around the world or had crossed the equator. In addition, it is commonly held[citation needed] that a gold earring was worn by sailors in payment for a proper burial in the event that they might drown at sea. Should their bodies have been washed up on shore, it was hoped that the earring would serve as payment for "a proper Christian burial". Regardless of this expression, the practice predates Christianity and can be traced back as far as ancient Greece where the gold paid the ferryman, Charon, to provide passage across the river Styx to Hades.....

What is it about old men always wanting to find something about young men to have a moan about? ;)

Grumpy old Gramps

I pierced my ear when I was 15, and over 40 years later still wear a small earing, shaped like a screw, in my right ear.
As I recall, it was said (way back in the '70's) that if a bloke had his left ear he was gay, in the right meant he was a drug dealer. Not sure if either was true, and I could never tell my left from my right. Hmm...

Or as a mug once bought by my wife said, "Don't wake up grumpy ... let him wake up himself!" :sulk:

On the subject of mugs, I got a present of a rainbow patterned/coloured mug with the logo 'GAY ICON' on it from some work colleagues a while back. Ohhhhhhh, how I laughed:D

They are OK, but I don't think I could eat a whole one though.
Once the fat renders there's not really a huge amount of meat.

Same as anything personal choice I guess... I quite like them ( not that I'm male) :)

Other way round according to Wiki and the clientele in the gay bar where I used to work and the piercing studio where I used to get my oversized rings from 20 years or so ago (before stretching became fashionable!) Not sure that drug dealers have ever really wanted to advertise the fact of their trade...

On babies or children in general? I reckon a toddler should have at least some decent meat on it (and would be self basting!)

I don't shave.
The wife does and she wears earrings :)

Men and earrings?
Poofs and Pirates, as my granddad used to say
What really grates is little babies with pierced ears...parents need a slap.

Urghh yes I agree, I hate seeing babies with earrings...I know there is all the culture/traditions etc but I still don't like it

What people do to their bodies doesn't bother me. Their body etc.

Back in the fifties when we were kids the story was if a guy had a earring in the right lug you were a giver, in the left lug it was a taker and you were not interested in girls:) Hence the reason I was never interested in getting one:exit:

Yes, but it is handy when they get to the toddler stage. Just clip on a dog lead and take them for a drag. :D

*Ring ring ....ring ring...err yes, hello, is that the NSPCC? Good, get to TP urgently!"*

One in each ear and then you can steer them like a dog sled (y)
Don't forget to remove before trussing, liable to break a tooth.

So you don't shave your balls then?

The last part of my body that got shaved was them! (In preparation for a vasectomy, not a fashion statement!) Nicked myself as well - more painful than the actual procedure!!!
