What is an exec file

When i upload files from my flash drive it has a folder called exec, what is this and do I need to save it with my image folder

It probably contains an application file. It may be some back up or security program. And no you don't need to save it to your image folder

Hi, I have a similar issue. I've just acquired a Canon Powershot GX7 mk3. I've shot both movie and stills with it. The movies copy onto my iMac with no issue but the stills (RAW CR3) appear as Exec files. I'm guessing these are PC/Windows compatible but not MacOS compatible.
I'm wondering of anyone has had the same issue and how to resolve it? Thanks.
