To pair with my thread to look back at 2015, what are your nature photography plans for 2016?

My big event for the year is a trip to Yellowstone - in September I shall be joining Danny Green and Edwin Kats for nine days in the park for the Elk rut, then staying on by myself for a further week. They're both amazing photographers, and Yellowstone is a place I've long wanted to visit so I have high hopes. I also aim to have a weekend at the Farnes, but after three consecutive years of visiting, I plan to have a 'fallow year' with regards to Skomer/Skokholm so haven't booked a stay.

At home, I hope the busy work and house buying that has kept my camera unused shall make way for a bit more photography time. My plan for the summer is to focus on achieving something with the hares and badgers that defeated me in 2015. However before that, I'd like to fit in some starling murmurations and short-eared owls in the coming weeks. The former is reliably done at Brighton Pier, the latter will depend on me locating somewhere.

So what photos should I expect to see you post in 2016?
 
2016 looks to be shaping up pretty decent for me just now.

Feb sees me in Northern Sweden( white mountain area) to photograph wild Golden Eagles in the snow- something i have thought about for a long long time.

June sees me off to Finland- right on the Russian border to photograph wild Brown Bear and possibly Wolves.

In October im off to the Outer Hebrides again for my annual trip to see all sorts of bird life.

Possibly the end of 2016 and i will be in Iceland or Lofoten islands for northern lights and landscape photography but i may put that off to Feb/March

Between these i will have my usual jaunts around the Scottish highlands etc etc.

So looking forward to the coming year.
 
Sounds like the bears are at Martinselkosen? I went there in '13 and had a great time and would like to go back at some point. I'd hoped that it would also give me an opportunity to see some nesting owls, but sadly it wasn't an owl year but I did get to see my first cranes. Have you self-organised or are you off with a group?

I'd love to do the golden eagle trip too. Both for the eagles but also the chance to do something in the snow - I love the aesthetic of animals in the snow, but living in the south of England, it's not something that presents itself to me. So I have thoughts on making somewhere snowy my big trip once Yellowstone is out of the way.
 
Sounds like you two have some great plans ahead, I am quite jealous! :D

Sadly we've done our fill of travelling the globe and SWMBO no longer enjoys good health so the future lies with UK projects for me.
In June we'll be off to Northumberland again and I'm looking forward to several return trips to the Farne Islands to see if I can improve on my exposure of the black/white birds, especially the Puffins. Birds and wildlife is my main photographic interest so I'll be looking out for any opportunity to use the camera locally and at any workshops/locations that take my fancy :)

We looked at Martinselkosen but decided on the wild brown bear hides a little bit away from there. I think they are run by the same family or group. Looks like a June trip so about 20hrs of light which should give us some good shots of the Bears. I have organised it myself for me and 2 friends.

I did the Bears last year Mark, also at Martinselkosen and found them to be fantastic to see and photograph, You'll love it.. Will look at doing them again at some point..

My trip list this year is, mountain hares in Scotland, Puffins on Skomer and ultimate apex predators, polar bears.. :0)
 
Reading of you guys plans with a twinge of envy, I look forward to your reports and postings.

As for me a trip to gigrin or Norfolk sometime in the next 2 to 3 months looks like it should be on the cards.
 
Hope this year to start getting some good pictures, and to practice and learn.
 
Only just seen this while searching for highlands, we have a week booked in the Scottish Highlands again this April slightly different please from past 2 years as we are staying in Acharacle, cannot wait as we just love the highlands and now wish it was 2 weeks! Then first week of June we have a week on the Somerset levels followed by 2 weeks at the end of August which we are not sure where to go yet but as our daughter has move up to Durham it is likely to be the North East Coast which is an area we have never been to.
 
Meant to say I'm very envious of your Yellowstone trip it's on our bucket list and possibly in 2 years time for our 20th wedding anniversary
