Hi All,

Does anyone recommend a HD Video camcorder?

With the birth of our baby only a few weeks away, I want to capture as much as I can, not the *actual* birth though lol.

Although I can video on my camera, I want to keep this separate if I can, and i'm not going to use it that often, so was thinking sub £100 if possible.

Any recommendations?

No, i dont think so. My mate got a hd cam for around £100, there are lots on ebay etc just not sure of anything recommended. I'd rather take a £100 video camera with me to kids outings etc that all my expensive camera gear....
 
Even any small compact camera would do.
But for childrens outings I'd recommed this;

The waterproof thing might come in handy if you go to the beach or just generally what kids get up too.

The next step up would be something like this;

At least its canon and good quality

Everything else normally around £100 or less new is Vivitar, and personally I'd stay away from them, I've always had problems with their stuff and found them seriously lacking in just about everything.

But going second hand on ebay, stick with brands like canon and sony, or panasonic or samsung, and make sure the video quality is at least 720p, it doesn't need to be HD or any higher to be good, those are preferable though. If you can, get something with a hard drive or external card, as these will provide you with lots of space for filming.

Good brand/good price/and waterproof.

I may not have the best answer, but I do know my camcorder, my whole degree is based on using them!
