What has caused this line on my RAW file?

Last night I was out shooting with my A77 and 50mm f1.8 lens.

Today I am editing and I have found a strange line across one of the images. I shot it in RAW and it seems to be the only image with the line on it.

It didn't show on the camera preview or the thumbnail on the PC. Just when I open the RAW file for editing in photoshop.

Anyone know what would have caused this? Some sort of corrupted RAW file?

I took several shots at this angle so nothing lost but was just curious as to what caused it.

Could be a slight NAND error in the card itself (often a sign of imminent card failure), but if it's just this once, and never again, probably just a glitch. It is faar more likely to happen during the transfer from camera to PC. Does it happen every time you download the card? If so, then random card glitch. Keep an eye out for it happening again, and if it does, and only with that card, bin it, or RMA it if still under warranty.

If it randomly starts happening with all cards, then it's the camera's card reader at fault. That's easily decided upon by downloading by using the camera directly connected to the PC versus using a separate card reader.

I wouldn't worry though.

Fortunately, it's a total breeze to retouch out.

thanks for the reply. hope it is just a glitch! I have had the card a few years now. I will try and download the photos off the card again. I just use a built in SD reader on my pc to transfer the photos.

i used to have this issue copying photos off a specific camera, you tried copying from a different card reader as suggested?

Do you always format your card after use? Or do you just delete the files? I had this and was advised to always format the card; it's never happened since.
