What has caused these issues with developing?

Yes
I took some images in Egypt some time ago (August 18) and the film sat on my desk until last month when I developed it. Unsurprisingly, the images have some issues.

Does anyone know what exactly has happened? What causes the white spots and the cloudiness down the middle? I've not seen either before in my developing. Its FP4 developed in Ilfosol 3, standard development as listed on the box, stop with Ilford stop and fixed with Hypam Rapid fixer - then washed as normal.

Many thanks.

When enquiring about development issues, it is better to offer photos of the negatives rather than scans of the image. That way we can see the film rebates which might be critical.

The light on the print is dark on the negative. That rules out dust or dirt on the negative. The centre portion could be a light leak but not the spots on the edges.

It is possible that it is heat damage given that is was Egypt in August - that would be my best guess.

Yes, it looks like your film is 'reticulated' which is associated with sudden changes in temperature, especially during development. Some people thing it is artistically desirable so don't write these images off! I rather like it.

Here is the negative of one of them (scanned as colour, hence the oddness). I have jinked it in the holder a bit, so ignore the left hand side as you look at it, as that is just holder stuff - the right hand side is the negative edge - some light leak showing due to loading 120 film in bright sunlight, I'm happy with that - any other thoughts welcome. Cheers.

Ps ignore the dust - on both the neg and the image - I didn't clean them all that well before scanning.

I'm ok with the images - the "errors" in the developing I do think add a bit of "antique", so they won't go in the bin - I'm just keen to know exactly what the issue is, so that I can control when or if it appears again.
