Hi

I am in the market for a flashgun, but don't even know where to start.

I do a lot of carp fishing and catch many carp at night but find that the inbuilt flash of my d7000 lacks a bit of power.

I have had a quick look at a jessops own version, but as I say really not sure what I am looking for.

Any help to tell me how to assess which is best or give specific reccomendations would be much appreciated

How much you got? I've just bought a SB 700 and so far, I'm really liking it.

Not sure if it will suit your needs, though :thinking:

I bought a cheap one off eBay and, well, it did a job...but having splashed out and bought a Nikon SB 700, I'm very happy. Over your budget, but I'd be tempted if I were you to save up and but the SB 700.

I bought a used jessops flash off this forum for my d9o and I'm really pleased with it, for how often I use it for its ideal.
 
A second hand Nikon sb600 should fit in your budget. You might not appreciate it now, but Nikon's creative light system is pretty cool. I is a great flash that can be used on or off camera!
