What flashgun to sit on body?

I currently have a 40D, a 400D and a 430EX. I'm looking for a second flashgun to sit on the 400D. It doesn't need to have the remote slave functionality, it's basically to be used as an upgrade to the built in flash so I can have two cameras always ready to go with a decent flash.

I'd like it to have similar power and cycle time to the 430 but this isn't cruicial. I'd ideally like to take advantage of the TTL from the 400D.

I'm on a very tight budget here hence why i'm not going for a second 430EX. What should I be looking at? I've got no problem going with a different brand providing it fills the spec.

It should be noted that this camera will be used by someone the won't really understand flash so TTL will be preferred.

I bought my 430 for around £120 second hand off here so i'd prob go for a 430 as opposed to 420 at that price. I'm looking more around the £70 mark ideally. I'm not too familiar with anything outside Canon's EX range so i'm hoping i'll come across something cheaper and more suitable :D

Otherwise i'll probably go for a 420 or 430 depending on availability

For example i've just seen the sigma EF430 which looks ideal and only $50 bbrand new from wharehouse express and has E-TTL and GN of 43. Has anyone used this flash? Whats the cycle time like? Is there anything similar?
