Hey peeps,

I am looking to invest into a flash gun and was wondering if it is worth the extra few quid and buying a SB-900 or should i go for a lower model. WHat would you suggest. Sorry if this has been covered before

Depends on whether you need the extra features/power of the SB900 and which camera (if you're using it on-camera) you're using it on, as an SB900 makes for a quite top-heavy set-up on the likes of a D60/D3000 etc.

I am using it on a D300 with grip. I want to use it as a all round flash

If you can afford it the SB900 is well worth the money, easy controls and a load of functions and so powerful.

With the grip with an en-el4a battery inserted the repeat flash is amazing . Off the camera you will need a sync cord for this repeat flash facility.

the SB600 doesn't work as a master flash as a matter of interest

OK thanks for you help so in summery you would suggest just to get the top one then i have everything i could need from it rather than spending less and finding at some point i need more

Definately you won't regret it. As you may have guessed I have the same camera and SB900 and now looking to add a couple of more in the near future. My SB600 flash looks weak in comparison. There is plenty of information on youtube about the SB900

OK thank you for that i will be looking for a sb900 then hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. i have so many ideas of things i want to do but need a flash for it as normally too dark for the shots i want

don't discount the sb800 though. I recently went through the research etc to determine if I needed the extra the SB900 would offer and decided on the SB800 (which I am very happy with). Obviously the SB800 would be used only.
