What fit are elinchrom lights?

Can someone tell me if Elinchrom have the same fit a lencarta for light modifiers please.

Many thanks :)

No, Lencarta uses S-type fitting (also known as Bowens-fit) though some of the Lencarta softboxes are available with an interchangeable mount to fit various brands.

Interfit heads use the Elinchrom mount.

Brill thanks for that. No point on having a mix of lencarta and elinchrom then really is there.

Do you or anyone else know what other good brands are s fit?

Thanks :)

Most brands are S-fit, a few others Elinchrom, and a some like Profoto and Bron have their own.

It will state on the spec sheet, as it does with Lencarta... ;)

So you have Lencartas? What's wrong with more of those?

Obvious alternative is Bowens, though you'll pay a bit more.

Obviously Bowens, but also some Interfit (I think all but the cheapest ones, which are Elinchrom fit), Viewfinder, Elemental Studio-Flash, Lastolite, Lencarta, to name but a few.

Have heard a few issues with Lastolites, have heard good things about Elemental.

We use Bowens, as they're heavier duty heads than all the above and they are worth paying that little extra for in my opinion based on the fact that should anything go wrong, you can still get servicing and parts replaced decades after you bought them. This is where the cheaper brands fall over in my opinion.

I don't get that comment? Elinchrom fit cheap?!

Elinchrom lights are amongst best in class. You can buy their pro softboxes (rotalux branded) which are simply superb and there are few as useful and good and they are certainly not cheap! (both a good and bad thing).

Bessel are doing a lot of decent very reasonably priced modifiers for Elinchrom kit at the moment.

I love the simplicity of the Elinchrom lights. People ask me too Bowens or Elinchrom (as both are pretty much the main premium brands in the UK). There really is very little difference. I do like the easier to use Elinchrom lights and the additional features their lights have - But that said their pro modifiers are expensive and Bowens have a multitude of resellers for their kit.

Very little in it.

Lencarta are used a lot by members here and offer good value and the sfit family of modifiers.

There's nothing to say you can't mix lights - but best to stick to the same brand as different manufacturers lights may also produce a slightly different colour balance of their lights too.... Just something to think about.

Have heard a few issues with Lastolites, have heard good things about Elemental.

EVERY manufacturer has good and bad. I've heard bad reports about Bowens, Lencarta, Elinchrom, Lastolite etc etc etc. I've heard great things about Elinchrom and Bowens and many are delighted with their Lencarta range..... At the end of the day a light is a light - It's the modifiers you use that shape it.

We use Bowens, as they're heavier duty heads than all the above
That is incorrect unless you state the model..... Bowens make cheap as well as pro lights. Not all Bowens lights are heavy duty.

Pretty much like Elinchrom and Lastolite and Lencarta who have all been around for some time.

You misread his post - he said that cheaper interfit flashes are elinchrom fit whereas the more expensive interfit flashes are s fit

As above - but it's more complicated than that.
Over the years, Interfit have sold a lot of different flash heads made by a lot of different firms, with a variety of different accessory mounts, including a proprietary mount that is unique to that make.
