Like the title says, whats the best film/negative scanner, I have a shoe box full of 120 & 35mm negatives plus around 600 slides, got a budget of £150 - £300, I already have photo shop 6 so I'm not to bother about any software you get with the scanner. Any recommendations welcome.

Theepson 4490 is a good budget scanner but only does two frames or 6x6 in a strip at a time. For the sake of speed the nextmodel up which should be in your price range does three frames of 6x6 at a time.

Don't do it! Scanning film is the worst job ever, and takes ages, then usually lots of tweaking to get a really good result. Save yourself lots of time, and money, by getting them scanned commercially. Plenty of labs offer this service.

If you have squillions to do, some people even ship them off to India for a bulk deal!

Thanks Kev, I'll have a look at that scanner.

Good idea Richard, I hadn't thought of sending them off.

Cheers matey!
