No
i have a 400d with a sigma 17-70mm and a canon 55-250 IS a lowepro slingshot bag and a small tripod and a selection of filters
i have about £140 to spend on some extra kit what would you get

Not knowing what sort of things you like to shoot kind of makes it difficult to suggest what kit to get, but a decent tripod is always a good investment. You should be able to get a Manfrotto 190XPROB and a 486RC head for £140. That combo is still light enough to carry about but sturdy enough to give a steady base for getting sharp images.

thanks i i mainly like to shoot whilst iam out walking
mainly anything that catches my eye that looks interesting

Then perhaps a more extreme zoom, such as a Tamron 18-250 mm or such.
Of course, such lenses are full of compromises, so the image and build quality is very likely to be a bit lower than if you used one of the pair you already have, but there are just times when you can't waste time changing lenses.
I'm saving for mine (and at least two other ones) :)

what wide lens would you recommend

Canon Speelite 430EX's are £140 new so that is where my money would go.

I'd also say something lighting wise.

As a beginner I hadn't appreciated how significant lighting could be, but I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that a lot of the best images I see on here and elsewhere are making very good use of lighting. I will certainly be spending on lighting - but not until I know and understand enough to make the right choices (plus I'm a tight git).

Even out walking, being able to manipulate the light on an interesting rock formation or plant or whatever would be very useful.

I suspect that if you felt that you needed a lens upgrade then you would already know that and not need to ask.

How about pointing us to some of your pics that you are pleased with and some that you think ought to be good but miss the mark for some reason - perhaps that you think may be due to an equipment limitation. Then some of the experts could perhaps offer a more specific recommendation?
