Ok i have almost made my mind up in buying a canon 450d,after looking at both 450d and the 40d for the amount of time that i use the camera i am going the 450d way could you canon 450d users just give me there veiws many thanks.

450d is an awesome camera, fantastic pictures, perfect for a beginner, but still will last you well into your pro-am days of togging :)

However I got a 40d. Because it's more robust, faster, and more ergonomical.

Whatever floats your boat :)

Tricky question, because the entire Canon range is below the entire Nikon range :D :nikon:

why not get a 450D and then upgrade when you can really justify it....and remember an upgrade of the lens will give you a bigger bang for buk than an upgrade of body !

If you can afford the 40D then that's the one to buy. I upgraded from a 400D to a 40D and the difference in image quality, high ISO performance, handling and ergonomics is huge. If you buy the 450D you'll only find yourself wanting to upgrade again within a few months.

i was advised to buy the 40D if i could afford the price tag, there is a thread on here comparing the two and i read into the great links in one of the posts. Advice given was around the fact the 450 had a lot of good features but more menu driven whereas the 40D is a step close to more manual control.

I was in two minds as well, but when i felt the 40D in the shop knew it was the wiser choice, though not big handed, as foodpoison put it, it felt ergo' right for me.

I hangled for just the body though and bought a 24-105 from kerso (also recommended on these forums)...

Good for you....now the most inportant thing is to get snapping....have a read through some of the on-line tutorials and the excellent "understanding exposure" by bryan peterson...cheap on amazon at moment.

i was just looking at this...adding to my basket now...i try to snap whenever i can, the wife is getting fustrated, and our cat thinks she's made it big time the amount of shots i have taken of her :D

Thanks for all of your replys now i'am totally confused instead of being a bit confused  joking apart i dont know what to do the Mrs said get a disposable one :(

I would go and hold both cameras as the 450D is a lot smaller and might feel too small for you.
