Yes
did a portrait shoot yesterday as assistant to my wife (the photographer). one of the family we were shooting said
"you dont look like a photographer " to me
(i,m not, i,m the assistant , or was yesterday anyway).

so what does a photographer look like then?
admittedly , i,m 5 10 , 15 stone and have a big goatee beard that would look at home on a hells angel, earrings and tattoo,s (which were hidden under the shirt). but i was smartly dressed.
it just struck me as an odd statement.

Did your jeans have a crease neatly ironed down the front? Maybe you left your polyester anorak at home!

I never leave home without mine:naughty:

 jeans

if you were wearing a suit . having had a clean shave " goatee accepted"
with nice shiny shoes and a camera around your neck..
you would have looked like a pro to me..

impressions are everything imho

md:thumbs:

hmmmm, I mostly wear jeans or at least never "office" type trousers. I shave when I feel like it but never because I feel I should. Sometimes I'll put on a shirt but it will never be tucked in and NEVER NEVER NEVER with a tie.

People hire me for my creative talent, not to do the books. ;):D

:thumbs:im sure you are very good ..
infact i know you are ..
all im saying is joe bloggs would expect the tog to look like a profressional with all the dangle bits..

as i said IMHO people like to see the works

" give a pro a 300d and 18-55 lens and a family member a 1dmk 3 and a 24-105 lens and ask someone to choose the pro"

you work it out

md:thumbs:

i see what your saying dave but to try and descibe a tog

imho
i've stated my thoughts..

Oh, I get it now

From camera club experience...

over 65
male
in brown & green
beard
white hair
camera waistcoat thing in beige
likes beer, or ale - never lager
drives a Volvo estate
is around 6ft tall
overweight but not grossly so
talks slowly, even if the building is on fire
moves slowly
knows how the Reciprocity Law affects long exposures in Kodak 25
doesn't get Solarisation
hates fancy borders, esp. drop shadow
shoots landscapes mostly
thinks nudes are boring, or rude
in talking about a photo, he'll ask what the aperture & shutter speed was - AND - what exposure mode was used
shoots raw only but doesn't really know why
never prints larger than A4
can recount the MTF figures of every lens he's ever bought
likes to buy cameras with Depth of Field Preview buttons
thinks white lenses are cool
buys a battery grip for extra power to take more shots, but never takes more than 50 in a day
buys a Canon!

Takes a man who's very sure of his sexuality to wear pink.

:lol::lol:
There are those that misunderstand my choices.

I used to live behind everything in black, white or mutted tones but these days, colour and impact is where it's at. :D

But I find that sometimes a man can look quite attractive in a pink shirt.

I'm not sure which of you two is the most confused here TBH

Daz, Rich will have his pink blouses at Angersea if you want to try one of those out ;)

I stopped wearing pink shirts after being almost raped by two sexy 19 yr olds recently

Seems women just love us muscle bound hunks in them

{Adele - keep your gob shut :lol:}
... just Adele, Dave...?? :naughty:

marky h. thankyou. :lol::lol::lol:
i think DD has it about right.brown suited volvo driving anorac.years ago when we used to go to a camera club , there were lots like that. realy didnt like it cos a girlie came along.when she got quals, they realy got upset.:cuckoo:
yet when we shoot a wedding together, people assume i,m the tog, when infact my wife is.we evn wear badges with "photographer " and "munchkin " on them.:)
at weddings , i wear a suit (no tie usualy).
the portrait shoot was smart jeans smart shirt and saudeish (sp)boots, a bit like boxing boots. she was wearing smart trousers and a black t shirt with the company logo on it.

my missus wont let me wear a pink shirt.:'(
