I know the horror asking what compact on a forum that everyone owns a DSLR lol


£300 max can anyone help me out?

just got rid of a fuji S9600 bridge because it was too big so I am looking for a
smaller replacement

would be nice if it had a decent optical zoom :thumbs:

I am no expert but reading some of the posts on here for the last few weeks people on here seem to recommend the Cannon S95.
 
Nikon P7000? thats what i'm looking to get to keep in my glovebox all the time.
 
Canon s95, Lumix LX5, Olympus XZ-1. These are what I'd be looking at.

Nothing wrong with asking, in fact along with the what bag threads it seems to be the most asked thing here!

Have a search for "compact", but as above the general consensus is Canon S95. I have it's predecessor the S90 and it is a cracking little camera.

Ditto. All capable of excellent results. Get down to a shop and try them in your hands. Pick the one that feels best to you.

No DSLR here!

As has been said before, LX5 etc, or if you want a viewfinder of sorts try the Canon G12 and for a longer zoom and viewfinder, a Nikon Coolpix P7000.

You wont regret buying any of them

I have actually been looking at the S95 reviews says its basically a small G12
only reason i have held off is i wanted i little bit more optical zoom

I will check out the other recommended ones you guys posted now .
