Yes
Hi folks took delivery of a 40d a couple or so weeks ago, not had chance to use it yet as I've no lens or cf card! Not used these cards before what am I after are the Kingston ones any good does it matter how much you spend they seem to vary quite a lot!!

It depends on how fast you need it to be. If you look up how fast the 40D can manage the pictures in MB/s then it'll tell you what the max speed it can manage is, hence you shouldn't buy a card that's faster than that. Sandisk and Lexmark are my go to but I've personally not heard bad things about Kingston.

As mentioned above, the camera max write speed is a consideration, but if you have a decent card reader, faster cards also transfer more quickly to your computer. I personally only (now) use Sandisk or Lexar, usually one or two steps down from the very latest, very fastest - for which you'll pay a hefty premium.

Always used to use Sandisk but I've been using Kingston CF cards as well for the past year and they have been fast and totally reliable for me, and cheaper than Sandisk too!

As stated those 3 brands are all fine. You don't need anything particularly big or quick for a 40D. A couple of 8gb sandisk ultra or extreme cards or their equivalent will do. Try mymemory or the classifieds.

Thanks that's exactly what I bought from my memory
