I ran a roll of Porta 400 through my Pentax Super ME at the weekend to see if I liked it before a holiday. The camera worked perfect during the day (the op was a little sketchy).

Anyway, the film came back from development and about 6 sequential frames have the dark banding along the bottom.

Is this a film problem, camera problem or a development problem?

Looks like sticky shutter

Short of a CLA, it may free up with use..:)
 
Ah thanks, I think it must have been caused by an insanely high shutted speed (I only realised that I had it on f2.8 after the planes had gone) and shooting at the sky
 
Often old cameras are no longer capable of their top shutter speeds without a proper CLA, not surprising really.
I had a Spotmatic that couldn't manage a 1000th without a bit of shutter drag or the mirror getting in the way or something, totally reliable @ 500th though.
 
In the old days I remember the advice given for the first three frames was to set the shutter to 1/1000 for exercise......dunno if it makes any difference but I do this with all my cameras anyway.
 
Mr Cad also does CLAs, did my Cosina PM-1 for about £30 if I remember correctly.
