FWIW, both brands try to poach users away from the competition by offering free swaps of systems to some high profile professionals. Happens between such as Sony and Fuji as well.

The video on that link of the guy having his lens pinched is crazy!!
 
Reading the article, it was the robbed photographer himself who spotted the imposter trying to use his ID rather than the security detail.
 
I thought lightweight tripods would be a disadvantage
