What canon cameras are water proof?

I don't know about water proof but the 1d series is very water resistant. I wouldn't like to throw them in a bucket of water.

I think the biggest prob is condensation build up with not drying out properly.

The only ones with full weather sealing is the 1D. The 40D will shoot in rain but it may not be sensible. Use a waterproof cover - even if its just a carrier bag.

I think so, but the difference in price between a 1D Mk II / Mk III would buy a pretty tasty carrier bag to keep it dry.

Not all lenses are sealed either.

I have a 40D and it's had use out in the wet. It has limited waterproofing but I still use a freezer bag for extra protection.

If you need a camera that will go out in the rain, have a look at the Olympus SW series. Compact but you can chuck 'em in a swimming pool!

Forgive this post, however the ambiguity of this phrase made me laugh....is a swimming pool the best place for an Olympus SW then?
