What can I do to improve this?

I have a photo that I'd like some advice on if possible? It's a photo I took at my brother's wedding a few years ago (unfortunately I was more of a novice than I am now!).

It needs rotating slightly and the colours are weak, but my main concern is the background. Is it possible to somehow replace the background in photoshop and if so any ideas on what with?

They had thought of using it as a canvas in their new kitchen (hence the delay in doing anything with it after taking it)

Thanks

I would straighten up the verticals, and clone out the grill on the radiator, as its very distracting, if you plan to reshoot it use a different backdrop and a polarizing filter

Thanks. Not possible to re-shoot unfortunately, the sweets have long gone!
To be honest my brother and sister-in-law weren't too worried about it, they just asked if I could get rid of the grill, but I'm really disapointed with it so wanted to really improve it (i guess that's the thing with learning photography, past photos are often full of mistakes!)

Ok just a suggestion, as there's probably loads more options you could use.
I used the colour of the top left to paint the background (you could use any colour you wanted).
I saturated the colour of the sweets and desaturated everything else.
I then blurred the glasses and jar at the back to give a depth of field (optional).

Other stuff you could try such as vignette, or mono with some coloured sweets etc
