No
Hi everyone,
I have a Nikon D40 with several lenses that I have had for a few years it's still in mint condition but the past year or so I have found that I am not using it.

I would still like a camera that I could take RAW images with as I like being able to mess around with photoshop and still take decent quality photographs but without the hassle of carrying around a camera bag with lenses.

Can anyone recommend a compact camera that is a reasonable price that would be good for me to use?

Also does anyone no how much I could sell my Nikon d40 for just the camera and standard lens.

Many thanks
Helen

Hi Helen, any of the later Canon G series cameras are lovely cameras that shoot in raw. I've got an old G9 and the image quality at low iso's is stellar, you'd be hard pressed to see much difference to the D40 at base iso's. I've not used any other decent digital compacts so can't comment on others. My colleague has just sold a mint condition Nikon D60 and 18-55 kit lens for £195, I reckon somewhere in that region for your D40

I would go for a sony rx100 or a x10. The x10 has a viewfinder if this is something you still want. Check them out instore along with the canon g12 and s100. I found the g12's viewfinder a waste of time, and just as well go with the s100.
