What book to learn photoshop cs4?

You can find some really good tutorials for cs4 on Youtube and some are far easier to follow then reading from a book.

Yeah, ive seen some of the tutorials on youtube but some are not that clear for me. Does anyone recommend any good books or other alternatives?

A book I have is called "Adobe Photoshop CS For Photographers" by Martin Evening. He has a few others out too.

I did find this Marin Evenings book very helpful. Lots of CS tutorials, well laid out and easy to follow the with step by step instructions.

Cheers

Off topic sorry, just tried your sig link to flickr Andyvalver and it didnt work :( there looks like an extra "/" at the begining!

EDIT: I'm also going to look into that book, appears good! cheers

I've used Martin Evening's Lightroom books and found them useful, I get on with his writing style.

CS4 is a massive piece of software to try to learn if you haven't got the basics from something else though.

Cheers guys, ill look into it. I was hoping there was a stand out book like when i asked about photography books everyone said... "understanding exposure" lol

Personally found that Scott Kelby's books are very helpful and easy to follow.

Not a book - but have you considered Lynda.com? You get 30 days free when you get CS4 new - possibly costs about the same as a decent book for a month ($30 per month), but you get a lot of pretty decent video lessons done in a month and they are delivered in a structured way rather than pick and mixing from a book. You only need buy 1 month if thats all you want to get you going.

Cheers mate, but i dont want to pay to view vidoes if thats cool. id rather have a book i can keep forever or sell on when im done, cheers though :P
