If you are using BBF it won't matter... all Nikons ignore that setting w/ BBF (by default).
If you have a newer camera w/ the 153pt AF system there is a second option under AF activation> AF-ON only that allows you to disable OOF release w/ BBF (which mostly eliminates the benefit of using it). I *think* selecting "disable" makes the A1 setting the priority... It's been a while since I messed w/ it.
IMO it is more likely to get you a *lower* number of keepers, especially with really difficult subjects because it will just refuse to take an image when it doesn't confirm focus. Sometimes the subject is in focus even w/o confirmation, and sometimes the focus is off w/ confirmation.
