Hi,

I’ve recently been offered to do some product photography, but I’ve never done it before, I mainly do events. I have limited experience with lighting set ups, having only done two studio shoots. So I don’t own any lights. I’m seeing this as an opportunity to expand my equipment, as we always want more equipment don’t we!!

A friend of mine is launching a clothing range/fashion label. What he wants is the clothes photographed on a mannequin with a white back drop, and then the mannequin removed in post editing.

What would be the best set up for this, would one of those pop up backdrops be sufficient (the ones that twist and fold down)? Also would I’m assuming one light from the front with a soft box would be sufficient also (please correct me if I’m wrong) Can anyone recommend a decent light?

Thanks in advance for any advice given

Hi James & welcome to TP :)

Did you notice there is a specific lighting sub-fora here https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/talk-lighting-and-studio.53/

If you ask a mod they will move the thread for you i.e. please do not double post, it just gives mods more work.....................and we don't want to make them grumpy ;)

I look forward to seeing you post and share in the various sub-fora.

Hi how do you contact a Mod? The staff members profiles don’t seem to have a contact option, or have I missed it?!

If a Mod see’s his, can they please move this bread to the appropriate forum as suggested above.

Thanks

I’m sure there are tutorials for ‘invisible’ mannequin shots. For lighting gear id recommend
Lencarta
Essential photo
Bessel
In roughly that order.
A quick call to them and you’ll be sorted.
