right i am swinging towards getting the nikon D40 camera (probably cos it works out the cheapest) just wondering what accessories i will need as a starter? and wheres the best place to get them and can you mix and match between different manufacturers or do you have to stay with one manufacturer?

sorry to sound stupid!

cheers

Lots of memory cards, extra batteries, sensor and other cleaning goodies and a good bag!

PS: A uv filter for your lens front element!

I'm the last one here to experiment with links but the only one of these items that could possibly need a link would be the uv filter.

Here goes nothing...

Can't even get into Google now...%#@*&%

Anyway, Google hoya uv filters and have a looksie - they are pricy but worth it.

HTH!

Yes but to a very small extent. They will also remove a bit of blue haze from landscapes in bright sunlight.

Primarily (IMHO) they protect the front element of your lenses and the coatings on them.

A near equivalent of the uv is the skylight filter which used to be used for indoor light such as tungsten etc...

hmmmmm! well im lost now! im new to all this! thanks for the advise

Don't despair - we gather this useless info over years so we can sound clever for a few seconds at a time!
