What a revelation - I've discovered the "ignore" button :D

Just generally act like a knob until you upset/bore people.

I have never got round to ignoring anyone. I suppose no one has got so far up my nose, that I do more than mentally exclude them from my thoughts.

I was once asked by a member of my staff, why I did not react to another members behaviour. I said that he was like that to everyone, and that it never effected his work. In fact he always knuckled down even more after a blowout. When it did start to affect others, he was transferred to another much smaller department where he did very well.

What the equivalent is on forums I have no idea....but people do seem to move on by themselves.

Which is exactly what I did, and doing so led me to the conclusion that if this person died and hence stopped posting I'd be happier :)

As I can't actually kill them myself, nor afford for someone else to do it, the Ignore button is as close as I can come

:wideyed:

Crikey, they must be VERY annoying......or you have a low tolerance :D

Cool I'll get right on it.

don't be too zealous about it, or you'll find that one of the green team may press their "global ignore" button on you...

;)

Actually, there used to be a real "global ignore" facility on the old forum software - we could press that button on people, and they'd just "softly and silently vanish"... they could post all they wanted, start threads, post to other peoples threads, even quote other people. But NOBODY apart from the staff could see what they did. It was particularly good fun to use on the "repeat registerers" - those cockweasels that had already been banned (once or more times) and came back as someone else... Must have been strange for them that they posted all their rants, deliberately wrote trolling / flaming posts and the only people that replied were the staff...

And of course, if someone went on a posting rampage while drunk, we could just make them invisible for a week or so, and clear up all the mess at our leisure...

I miss that button. It's replacement on this forum software isn't half as much fun.

Sometimes you've just got to live life on the edge. Currently 80- foot waves battering the rig and 90 knot winds. Somehow the ignore button seems a soft option.

I've never used the ignore button before, so I thought I'd give it a try. The topic list looks a lot cleaner now as any threads they have started have completely disappeared.(y)
I may have got this wrong, it now appears that any threads people on my ignore list may have posted in, don't exist in the topic list, they just appear if they are the last thread posted in by someone in a topic area on the forums list.
Now that is weird.

Just had a good idea! (y)

I think it only decent that if someone puts you on their ignore list ........ you should receive notification of such. :D

Actually that's not a bad idea, it save's you wondering if they are ignoring you, unintentionally or deliberately.
I'll flag that in the staff room for you.

Could you imagine the hissy fits?!! :D

Well if they are ignoring each other, no hissy fits. :D
I'm not even sure that you can receive a PM from an ignored person.

Lol true.. Though I was thinking more on the line of possibly threads being made whinging at the audacity :D

Saying that I'm not against the idea, I wouldn't mind knowing whose ignoring me :p

Pretty sure you can't on the Pm thing

Then that would be down to "us" to stamp on them PDQ ;)

Its a shame we can't see it either, ( just for curiosity's sake) although as I said a little while ago "we" can make educated guesses :D

Maybe it should just be a rule for the Ignore..r to have to PM the ignoree to tell them they are now being ignored (like you received), with a valid reason included in the PM.

"Dear *******,

I hope this PM finds you well.

Just a quick message to let you know that I am now ignoring you. Over the last few months, you have become an insufferable bell-end, and I for one am fed up of your s**t. That said, I wish you the very best of luck in your current and future photographic endeavours.

Best wishes to the family

Nick"

whatever happens, don't make it "retrospective"...

???'s and ??????????????'s mailbox will go into meltdown...

I got one.
Maybe I was taken off the ignore to enable the PM, or is it just that if i'm on someone's ignore list I'm unable to send them a PM, but they can still send them to me?

That reads like you must have the same people on your ignore list as I do. ;)

Are you sure you don't have me on ignore? ;) :P

I think I might know who you mean.

Whats intriguing me is who "??????????????" is. I'm off to look for some 14 character names belonging to numpties. No, hang on, I think I've got it on first attempt!

I'm thinking I might sign up an alter ego "Ignored Member" should be fun :D

It's weird when the post count jumps from 72 to 74...

Who said that?
