Hi guys,

I just sorted my stuff for a little wedding shoot tomorrow and thought somebody might be interested in what I typically bring to my wedding, portraiture & boudoir stuff.

Already in the car (so no photo) and juuuust in case I cannot work without artifical light is:
  • Godox AD300
  • Godox Softbox 85cm
  • Lightstand
  • Sunbounce reflector (zebra)
Usually I don‘t use a.m. stuff for weddings - but better safe than sorry I guess.

This is the stuff I will use tomorrow:
  • Lumix S1
  • Lumix S5
  • Lumix 70-200 f/2.8
  • Sigma 35 f/1.2
  • Lumix 16-35 f/4 just in case I need it
  • Godox V1 flash
  • Godox XPro wireless flash trigger
  • Few bits and pieces (batteries, memory cards, blackrapid strap, ND & Polarizer, Airblower)
  • My trusty Billingham 335 - you just can’t show up at a wedding with a regular Lowepro backpack (edit: ;))

Any questions or ideas please feel free. I‘m curious what‘s in your bags. You are very welcome to share your pictures so we can nerd about it a little bit.

Cheers,
Jan

In terms of camera straps my missus uses a holdfast moneymaker and I will be using Peak Design slides.

Ooh and a couple of reflectors.

For bags tomorrow we are using a couple of Thinktank Retrospectives and a Lowepro because nobody cares what bag you bring to a wedding.

Do I win a prize?

Edit - forgot the Sony 55mm f/1.8 that will be coming too.

Jan.... cameras and lenses are ok... but what about a spare bag?

You can't be any sort of photographer without at least how many bags?

:D

For weddings I use and bring
2xcanon r6
1x5dmk4
16-35 lens
24-70 lens
35,85 and 135 primes
2x flash guns
2x ad200 flashes
And all the gubbins that goes with it ....spare batteries ,charger , sewing kit , high heel stoppers , memory cards ,etc etc

I come home with what I left with and usually a lip stick and flip flops
And that just about does me

Alright, i did indeed forget the funny emoji on the bag thing. Sorry for that.

@stumac: sewing kit is a fabulous idea! I‘ll steal that one.

It is but the high heel stoppers get me more brownie points

Just returned from a family holiday. Normally I would take a Bronnie outfit but this year we were sharing a car with our son and daughter-in-law so had to travel light.

I took a Contax IIa with pouches on the neckstrap containing a shoe-mount exposure meter and a lens hood. I also sneaked in a small gadget bag containing 80mm and 135mm lenses together with the viewfinder and lens hood for both. Also included an Ikoblitz VI flashgun and bulbs, various Zeiss filters and several Contax cassettes loaded with Pan F.

Had a great holiday and took lots of pictures which I am still working through.

If I can get out tomorrow it will either be my S5 and 20-60 or my G9 12-35 f2.8.

Nice kit you have there but it's above my pay grade as a hobby tog.

That 70-200 looks lovely though lol
Don‘t worry. In didn‘t acquire that overnight. I spend money on photography gear since 2006 or so and this is the kit right now. It‘s a journey. For me at least.

To be fair, I don‘t even like working with two cameras. I just can‘t bear the risk of just bringing a single body to a wedding. And since I bring a second body anyway, i might as well put a Lens on it.

That 70-200 is an impressive lens though. Recommended.

I have been on organize model shoots and always took one cameras and some lenses in a very large bum bag, and I would see people with 2 cameras draped over them.
However I am now one of those people, simple because the time it takes to change a lens the moment has past and if it is out side and the weather is not that good even worse for changing lenses.
So now on camera with tele zoom 70-300, another with 18-50 f2.8 and this works very well for me.

And to think I did all those weddings in the 1970s with a Rolleiflex round my neck and a Yashicamat on my shoulder, as a backup! :naughty:

@JaPe
curious to know how you ended up using LUMIX for Wedding photography, not that I am saying you can’t and how do you find it compared to Canon/ Sony/ Nikon?

I've seen a few people on YouTube that use Panasonic M43 and Lumix cameras for wedding stuff and their work looks pretty good.

I did shoot quite a few weddings with only LUMIX bodies now and I‘m very satisfied.

The bodies are pure quality with all the knobs and switches at the right places so that I can operate very intuitively (even such things as changing the WB in a blink while the bride and groom step out of the dark chapel into bright daylight). These are the best feeling and operating bodies I ever used (coming from Olympus E-M1X and Pentax K3 myself and having shot on Nikon D700, D3s and Canon 7D from buddies before). I did compare the S1 to most it‘s direct competitors during the buying decision (Nikon Z6 & Z7, Canon R6, Sony A7III, and my own Olympus E-M1X of course). And this one felt the best in my hands and just fit my needs. I also like the story of different brands and manufacturers working together in L-Mount. Feels better to me somehow.

The lenses are a blast as well. Very good results. The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 might well be my favorite lens of all time.

The only issue I have is that the continous AF just isn‘t up to par (compared to it‘s top of the line competitors). Regular AF is very good and very fast in most conditions so I can work around that pretty confidently. And with the beautiful Focus Clutch on the higher end LUMIX lenses I can manual Focus with ease in harsh backlight (and very fast and reliable due to focus peaking). I‘m also quite sure Panasonic will update the AF in Future models.

So, no real issue for me. I am very happy and feeling very confident using this kit at weddings (and anywhere else).

Edit: to be fair, the Canon R3 with the 28-70mm f/2 could be a thing for me for weddings. But i don‘t enjoy canons policy of fighting off every other lens manufacturer that does stuff for RF. I get the reasoning. But from a customers point of view, this just bothers me. But I don‘t want to get too deep into this here ☺️

Edit 2: battery life on the S1 is somewhat dissapointing.

This!

Whilst I don't shoot weddings, I'm 'just' a landscaper, but I switched from Sony to Lumix S5 at the start of this year, and the bodies are just an absolute joy to use.

My kit bag consists of...

Lumix S5 (maybe soon to be 2!)
Lumix 20-60mm
Lumix 70-300mm
Lumis 85mm

A mix of Breakthrough and Kase grads and ND's (although they don't get used so much since the switch t the S5 as the DR is just amazing)
Benro and Innorel tripods
Batteries
SD cards
Binoculars
Waterproofs

I was a bit naughty and bagged one of the S1 bodies from John Lewis reduced to £1395. Not set it up yet...I'm hiding it from the wife and will wait till she notices I have it before owning up and admitting my failure to not spend lol

Don't waste warranty time!

If it takes 12 months for Mrs Adamski to find out about it...

I can imagine. Have you managed to have a try? What do you think?

I set it up last night and it feels like a larger G9 which to me is excellent as I am 6 foot 4 and have large hands. Grips better than my S5 (to me my G9 has a better feel than the S5). I tried out a few modes (burst etc) and it is faster than the S5 also. What I found good was the buffer (raw and jpeg) is much larger than the S5 and doesn't get backed up anywhere near as quickly (I'm only using a Lexar Pro SD card at the moment as don't have a CFexpress) Hope to go out and play with it later :-)

Now I have everything I could possibly need, so no more buying stuff (I tell myself) and time to learn more about using what I have and especially the editing side of things. I'm reading a few photography books at the moment which will no doubt help.

Who are you trying to kid....

Well still need some home studio kit (in my Amazon basket) and a flash trigger (also in my basket) and some filters (once I know more about what they do)...but I DO NOT NEED anymore cameras or lenses.
