I’ll be taking a Half term family break next week in the Weymouth area.

Any recommendations for locations in the area?

Portland Bill stand out nearby. Chesil beach looks interesting but also a bit long and flat!

Depending on what you like to photograph, a visit to West Bay (where they filmed Broadchurch) might be fruitful, as might Lyme Regis. Osmington is a cute little village, based around a triangle of streets with a nice pub on the main road. And since Weymouth is a fishing town, there's a lot to be photographed in and around the harbour.
