I purchased a used Olympus E-M1X and there 100-400mm lens from WEX but just did not like the image quality at high ISO's so returning it and going for Sony 100-400mm GM, anyway my question is anyone purchased a used Sony 100-400 from them as looking at there used options every one they are selling seems to have the same description (This lens shows very light use, the lens exhibits very few marks including light wear to the lens mount and wear to the hood mount. There is light dust throughout the optics, this will not affect the images in any way.) The other option is a lens that has is up as Open Box but the difference in price on a new one after Sony cash back is £20, yes you have to wait for the cash back but £20 difference I cannot get my head round. Anyway any comments on either the used or new option please. Many Thanks, Russ.

What grading no. have Wex given the used lens?

One at 9 and the other 9- the one that is £20 cheaper than new is OB

They will both be fine they have to mention mild signs of wear like tiny marks from clumsy attaching to camera that have no effect on use but you wouldn't get if it was new.

Well the OB one is £220 cheaper than a new one. The new one just happens to have a cashback offer on at the moment. For a £20 difference with the cashback offer you may as well take the new one but in normal circumstances the OB one is a bargain.

I would avoid the 9-. I've had quite a lot of used items from Wex over the years but my experience says 9 or 9+ are safest.

I'd personally go for the 9+ one at £96 more (£1697 vs £1601) than the 9- and £230 cheaper than the OB. It's then a question if you'd then rather pay £200 more (after cashback) for a brand spanker.

The 100-400GM holds it's value very well.
I remember buying and selling mine for around £1600 4 years ago and it's selling around the same price

Unless you buy new not long after release :headbang: ;)

Wex used seems to be well describe. Nearly all my Sony kit is from them and it has been as described.

Just a follow up.
Received a full refund from WEX, I did request a credit option to allow me to buy the used 100-400mm but they sent back to PayPal:) so the good news is I can get the lens from E-Infinity brand new for £1,699.00, have used E-Infinity before and very happy with there service. Yes I would like to have backed the UK company but with a saving of £300 0n a new lens.

I had a 9- D7000 turn up from them last week, and am very pleased with it. I take care of my cameras, and apart from some slight scuffing on the inside rubber of the grip, it looks like I've owned it from new.
Had a 30 quid D70 arrive yesterday which was rated at a grotty 8 and looks it, so I'd be happy with 9- as my minimum for a nice item.
