Wendys 52. Week Nine: Play

Good thinking :p nice to see something a little different. I like the depth of field, but the background looks a bit washed out?

It was a miserable miserable day, had to tie my dog up to take this shot, he was not amused!:D

Wendy are you saying your dog took this shot?:D
If he/she did, tell them I like the dof in the image, an alternative take on the theme and I like the colour and tone of the image. Tell your pooch well done from me:thumbs:

:lol: Damn, my secret is out! :D

Certainly thinking outside the box.

With a crowbar thrown in for good measure. ;)

Present's not really fulfilling the theme for me, but your speed shot is super... very speedy!

Hi Wendy,

There’s a lot to like in your shot for present.
Good use of DoF, some strong lines with the bridge & base of the lighthouse and the red and white colour scheme works well.

I’m not TOTALLY convinced about how on theme it is though

It’s also a shame that the sky was so white. The white on the lighthouse is getting a bit lost against it – it would have been so much nicer if it had been a strong deep blue, or dark stormy grey . . . but not a lot that you could do about that really
I do think that you’ve got a very nice composition and captured it well, working with the conditions that you had, so a  from me this week.

I really like the shot, the scene works well, it's well composed with good use of DOF. I think I'm inclined to agree with Sarah about the theme, but ...

Just been viewing your 52 sorry not found earlier, great set of images two favourites stand out for me your tulip picture for the poem theme fantastic colours very sharp and that black background certainly helps set it off, also like the composition for chopped the with orange framed just right

:)Thanks everyone for all your help and support, great to read such positive feedback:) Slighlty behind at the moment, but determined to catch up. Had a book signing I was asked to take official pics for today, even rented a lens from Stewart, but the weather has closed down the roads in scotland, so its been cancelled. Bang goes my perfect chance for the people pic!:bonk: gonna get out and about over the next few days, see if i can catch up with my own 52, and comment on yours as well, been incredibly bad at keeping up with that as well:bang:

Thank you all again, having seen the high standard of the other 52's, i feel honored to be part of it:cool:

:)

Hi :) Only started my 52 yesterday so I'm trying to catch up too...am also a mum of 3.

I must admit I was intrigued as to what you do when you said you would be running around in full kit for 14 hours a day.....I belong to a viking re-enactment group so I soon as I read that I pictured you running around in viking kit with a big sword

Anyway I digress....sorry! You have some lovely shots...I must say the orange one has still got my mouth watering brilliant colour rendition and I really like the Street one too. Brilliant take on Present...thinking outside the box and a really nice shot. Look forward to seeing more :)

Always good to hear from someone who has a tribe like me:p Wish me running around in kit was that exciting:D I'm a firearms officer in the police, so periodicaly I have to do training, which was a week long this time, lots of running around shouting, pretending the bad guys are the kids, its amazing what a stern 'mum' telling off achieves!

:lol::lol: Brilliant! Now I have even more strange images going around.....lol Having said that we have a police officer and a barrister in our group so you'd fit in well ;)

It's a nice happy people shot Wendy, shame they're not all looking in the right direction for you. Colour is looking a little dull and flat. Needs a tweak to your curves and a little vibrancy boost to make it pop a bit more (IMHO) :)

Agree with Darren Wendy, nice, happy shot but boy do the girls look cold, especially the one top right - almost blue! I love the 'forced' grin on the girl lower right too. :D

Lovely shot Wendy - the expression on the little one's face is priceless : )

Sweet shot :)

I did a shoot of my friends four children last summer and I know how hard it is to get everyone looking the right way etc etc......I took lots of shots and it's really funny looking at them in order, how the toddler got progressively more restless....I got one really nice shot....it was about the 3rd of the day:lol:

Thanks everyone, you're right about the colour, it was a cold morning in south wales, the four girls in 'mink' are sisters, the one in pink is my little girl, their cousin. There are also three boys to add to the mix, getting all the girls loooking remotely in the same direction was hard enough, all eight kids together was a nightmare:D

It was never gonna work:lol:, went for the natural look instead:p

Working on the mechanical shot today, although it may be a bit of a stretch, determined to catch up though:)

OK, this is my mechanical, sneaked a photo of this from next to a big 'No Photography' sign:D Maybe not the most inspiring, but most definately mechanical:D

:)

Yuck (the lick not the photo) :D Looks a little dark as you've lost the detail in the dark hairs. Worth having a play with exposure and curves to bring it out a bit. Certainly one for the doggy album :)

I've noticed so many doggy shots for 'play'! none like this though :D Nice portrait!

I like the depth of field in your mechanical shot. The muted and minimal colour pallet compliments the whole image :D

Hi Wendy catch up time :)

Chopped...The quarter composition works very well, nice and sharpe and great colour.

Street.... The blue looks good against the brick work, the dof is ok it just needs a little straighten for me.

Speed.... It says speed to me, great action shot!!!

Present.... First thought with that shot was the title of the Harrison Ford film 'In Clear and PRESENT Danger' as the sign is warning you of the danger you are presently in.

People... I agree the first shot just needs a little tweak to lift it. The second B&W shot works better for me, all those kids at a wedding :bonk:

Mechanical.... I can't believe you didn't get the 'no photographing' sign in your shot :D would have been fab!!

Play....Never let a dog lick your face, you might not want to know what they were licking last :lol:

Like the second shot for People. Much more natural and less formal which I think works nicely - looks good in black and white too - makes it look less cold.

I find the chain-link fence in Mechanical a little distracting.

Play is a nice shot but a little dark, maybe tweak the levels a little. The dogs tongue gets lost on the guys face.

The only downside for the play shot like others have said is that its just a tad too dark.
I like your 2nd shot for people and it really works in B&W

I love your play shot!
Could maybe do with being a little bit brighter, but it really is good fun. It made me smile so that's got to be a good thing.

People: I prefer the mono shot. It looks a lot more relaxed than the colour one and you've caught some great expressions.

Mechanical : Not too sure about this. The fence is kind of distracting, but even without the fence I'm not sure that it's doing much for me. Technically it's well taken, but I'm just not finding the subject very exciting . . . it does fit the theme though.

People... I'm gonna go with the others... the second one is more natural and relaxed..

Mechanical... it fits the theme... the fence is a bit distracting... but you should have got the sign ;)

Play... Yuck... it's a bit dark, but on theme
