Howdy peeps,

I recently discovered the joys of using welding glass as an ND filter but i am having a few problems with the white balance on my sony A500. When i do a custom whitebalance setup it just says error and sets it to the lowest setting. Has anybody had this problem before. At the moment i have been experimenting with dng profile editor and a colour chart, but there is still a lot of fiddling to be done. Any help would be greatly apprecieated.

How are you doing the CWB? Use a white card and give it plenty of exposure, so the card looks a very light tone. So long as it's not actually blown, that should get you reasonably close, unless it's outside the correction range of your camera.

Even doing this my welding glass completely stuffs the colour and I can't get rid of the green with out mucking something else up.

The way I have been sorting it is to use a colour card, take that as the first image. Then when I get home I have to convert that into a .DNG file and then create a profile in ACR Profile Editor. Then load the Pics into ACR and use the camera profile. Even then I have to do some minor white balance adjustments. Its a massive pain in the backside. I was just interested to know if anyone with a Sony had managed to get around this Faf.
