Weird red streak on some (not all) shots

Light leak? new seals?
Yup.

You may find that the streaks appeared on the shots with the longest time gap. If you shoot or three one after the other probably no evidence of light leaks but if you take a shot, wander around for an hour, stick your camera on the table while you're having a cup of coffee in the sun the light leaks will have more time to show up on the film.

Change your light seals anyway, just to be sure.

ah, ok - Any ideas to cure a light leak (apart from incontinence pants. of course) welcome!

Give Jon Goodman a shout jgood21967@aol.com he's based in the states but the service is really good and the seals are top notch with clear instructions on how to replace them. He's also a member on the forum but we don't see much of him, loads of guys in the f&c section have used his seals with no complaints I'm aware of. Depending on which camera you have he'll likely have some in stock or can cut some for you. They're normally about $10 per kit although it's been a couple of years since Ive needed any.

Great I'll shoot him an email...

Hi folks,
Thanks for remembering me and hope all is well with everyone. I retired a couple of years ago and have been physically busier than ever before, but the light seal kits are still being made and are still about the same prices as they were. I've had to bump up a bit due to higher postal fees and the fact PayPal has doubled their charges, but so it goes. What you see in the scan is what looks to me like a hinge end seal leak. This typically allows light to strike the back side of the film, burns through the color layers and produces the odd-looking orange/red/yellow streaks on the developed picture. I've made a mental note to try and not be so absent. Take care and enjoy the upcoming week.

My Dad's old Fed 4 had (still has, in fact) a minor light leak. When I see photos like these, I'm instantly transported back 35 years to evenings of holiday-snap Kodachrome slide shows :pics:
