You have a camera that finds secret treasure!

Does it only do it on long exposures? Have you tried taking progressively longer exposures to see if it is better/worse on longer/shorter shutter speeds.

Also, I take it that's a 100% crop? Or is it more than 100%?

ok - just taken some shorter exposure shots- 1/4 there dosent appear to be anything showing up- thats also cropped quite a considerable way- im just using iphoto at the moment - so cant give u a % of zoom- but its small- very small

This is complete stab in the dark here but that looks like a quinqunx. So could it be a dodgey photo site that is interfering with the Raw-Jpeg interpolation?

I did say it was a stab in the dark

i think im gonna email canon see if they can give me any advice- its a weird fault that seems intermittent, depending on the shooting conditions, its not that i cant remove it in photoshop either, ill make sure i let you guys know the outcome.

Can you upload the full RAW file somewhere we can have a direct link to, so we can have a look. An untouched version ?

Thats a weird fault to be sure.

ok so i just updated the firmware and its gone- canon have yet to get back to me-
