Weekend in Scotland

Not really sure what's happening in #1, but I'd say #3 being my favourite(with the path leading up).

Hi, To be honest the first one would have been better with at least a decent sky rather than just a grey patch and 2 and 3 look as though they have had to much PP done.
Visiting the most beautiful part of the UK even just for a weekend I feel you could have found better subject matter.

Well we all have to start somewhere and we can all look back at early pictures and see work such as this. Well I can anyway ;)

I can see what you are trying to achieve compositionally but none of the images have any real interest about them

1) An obvious leading line but it leads to nowhere really, no subject of interest and the rope itself is a bit confusing as to what it is. The whole image is rather dark and needs lifting.

2) Fair lead in and foreground interest but the bridge is hardly attractive as a subject. Some of the foreground water is clipped with no detail left and none of it appears very sharp to my eyes.

3) Once again you have tried for a leading line with the path leading the eye into the image, so far so good but then the eye comes to rest on what looks like a pile of rubbish, once again looks a bit soft to me and the greens maybe slightly over saturated for my taste

All 3 are not interesting subjects really, if you had good light then this would help but as russell says there must be much better choice of subject matter in Scotland.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, just my opinion and like I said, I have been there myself

Its great you want to learn and are driven to do so. I think this is the most important feature. We all learn everyday with photography.
I can see what you were trying to do with your leading lines and creating a foreground interest.
What i try to do when shooting landscape is think what my subject is, how i will position it in the frame to draw the eye.
Are there distracting features in the frame? can i remove them?
always make your horizons straight, they look pretty good. just keep shooting, you'll learn through experience.

good effort, just keep shooting from different angles and perspectives. your histogram is your best friend, always use it :)
