Can anyone help with advertising. What has worked for you?

I get constant calls, people trying to sell me something. I have spent money to no avail on things and want to find the right target market.

Adwords has worked well so far I was offering a low special offer price for x weddings.

So what has worked for you / can recommend?

Wedding Fayres?
Wedding Planners?
Hotels In The Area?
Wedding Magazines?

What is the most cost effective method? I am about to reluctantly pay for an ad in wedding magazine. I feel this is going to be a waste of money or as someone put it. A good way to burn unwanted cash...

Thanks

My site is spread across various directories and things. Used adwords, local directories, hitched.co.uk. I get referrals from my other site which is slightly up in google and google places.

So my number is pretty easy to come across..

Only thing that has worked so far is adwords and this slowed up and I was even offering a special offer rate at the time...

You on facebook? Other social networks?

Wedding Fairs are the dogs in my eyes. And all you need to think is one booking and its payed for so nothing to lose really.

Work on getting organic listing for your site aswell as it will perform much better than adwords once you rank in the top 3 for your keywords.

I have a wedding page on FB but I've not fully taken advantage of it and don't really know how to get people to it. I've tried to get friends to join to create a domino effect across their pages.

Google. Well. I rank high, like top 1-3 for keywords that are localised. Problem is, nobody really searches on them, they are very low. Like 880 a month and that figure includes the google network too, not just organic listings.

Just did a search now on a keyword that says gets 1000 monthly searches. I am position 2 and I get around 4 clicks a day and not even from that keyword...

I am basically in position 3-8 for several local keywords, problem is the places listings sometime show above me so it pushes me down. I am working on google places positioning too...

With facebook, you need to get your clients and potential clients to "like" you, or if it is a normal page (not a business page) then to be your friend.

There is a thread here.......

Which has some pros and cons and ideas from others about how they use it.

You have to approach social media very carefully. Lot of people expecting just having a facebook page is gonna bring them in loads of business, when it won't. It requires a lateral mindset. I actually did photography for a social media consultant - so I learned quite a lot from her (for the when day comes that I market myself). You got to remember it's a social tool - use it socially!

I think all avenues have to be tried and you have to expect little from each. So far I it's a mixed bag on what seems to work. Some having success with some things, others not.

Just buildng my FB side now. Man things is just trying to get people to tag themselves in images so it's spreads far and wide. FB advertising. No thank you. As someone else said and I thought....

I don't ever go on to FB to look for a service and I hardly ever notice the adverts,so giving that one a wide birth...
