Ok so I have 257 solid top notch 4 star shots (500 odd shots I was happy with). Now last night I uploaded them all to Photobox so people could easily buy prints. I also made a gallery for the B&G to browse for their album. I got a text today saying their PC is broke and a new one is on order. Photobox currently have an offer on for 4p per 6x4. I could quite easily give them 2 lots of 6x4's of everything without breaking a sweat. The problem I have is how do they know what photo is what? I can't find a way for Lightroom to stamp the photos with the filename. Should I provide a set of index contact sheets too? So when they find a photo they like they consult the index for the filename?

Also, whats a good number for the album? I was thinking 50 because it'll be quite hard to really capture the day with 30 I think. What other prints should I be providing? I was thinking a selection of 10x8's or something.

Pete, doesn't LR allow you to choose the contact-sheet layout. i.e.. larger print size plus image details. This might be crap I know.

I just tried it. I have a 4x5 contact sheet with the filename under each image.

Doesnt photobox print the filename of the image on the reverse?

Bit annoying to constantly take each photo out and put it back though.

This is what I do at the moment, and I currently use the filename printed on the back of the print by photobox.

however.

As you say this is a PITA for albums. Also, I've noticed photobox cutting some filenames short on some print runs I've done. On top of all that the inks they're using to print the filenames seem to be getting shoddier and shoddier - some of them are really hard to read & I feel bad giving clients stuff like this.

Some way of stamping the filename on the print would be awesome and the best way to go I think. They're only proofs anyway.

I think 6x4 proofs + index + dvd slideshow + online gallery. Think thats the best way to cover everything.

I use Pixum personally, and they can print text of your choic on the back of each pic.

I usually just opt for the Filename / Number.

Service is fantastic as well from Pixum. I usually upload on a sunday night and receive them from germany on tuesday

Surely someone must do a piece of software that adds the filename to the image? Enough watermarking software exists, so I can't help but think somebody has done a program that can print the filename on.

Ah well. Already printed now :) Plus the couple can keep all the shots and display some without having a filename on.
