Hi all,

Due to popular demand I am at last pleased to announce that I will be running a wedding photography workshop in Cambridge on Saturday 8th March.

The course will be held at the stunning Downing College. There will be two model brides and a model groom with us for the day which runs from 10am to 4pm.

During the day we will be focusing on such things as:-

Individual posing
Posing the couple
Use of the location
Light - natural, reflector and off-camera-flash

It will be a great opportunity to develop your wedding photography skills and take some awesome shots in a really beautiful location.

It's £100 per person and is limited to 12 photographers of which 4 spaces have already been taken.

Please comment below if you'd like to be included.

Ryan

Certainly interested, but currently have something booked in for that day. Will see if I can move it around and get back to you.
You probably don't need to hear my deliberations, but at least I can find this thread again later! :D

Lol. That's cool. Just come back if you get things sorted Dave :)

Hi there, I’m very interested in this but have a question.

Would you be covering on camera flash (speed light) at all? I’m thinking from the perspective of the lone photographer without off camera kit.

Thanks

Hiya,

Yes I'll be including on-camera lighting too for those that want it.

I'm also nope able to announce the first of the model brides who will be joining us on the day. It's Vikki and this is her:-

I've worked with Vikki before and she is a stunning model bride with lots of experience.

How difficult is it to get to that location? I'm at a concert in Nottingham the evening before so would have to drive down in the morning. I'm trying to juggle the logistics of everything I have going off that weekend.

I'm actually intending for folks to meet at the park and ride and then head to the college from there. So you'd just have to get to the park and ride on the edge of the city :)

I'd love to come as well but again not sure on logistics of what the wife is up to. If anything I'd be coming on a motorbike so would be avoiding the park and nick :)
I assume there's still spaces and will speak to the holder of the diary :)

Sure, you'd be able to park your bike at the college where it would be very safe.

Spaces are available so let me know if you can make it :)

Is this course suitable for a newbie as just brought a 5d & still learning how to use it  :$ !?
Was using a 450d for yrs on auto setting & now want more control etc etc ..
What do I need for this course as well ??
Sorry for all the questions :)

Graham,
The course is certainly suitable if you have a mind towards becoming a wedding photographer. You will learn a great deal about shooting the bride and groom.
With regards to camera settings it would be useful if you have a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO. If these things are a little rusty I will be able to give you some guidance on the day but, alternatively it might be worth booking a couple of hours one-to-one with me before the course so that I can go through such things with you at your leisure. PM me of you fancy that.

In terms of what you need - camera and lens are a must (obviously). Useful (but not essential) things to have include reflectors and a flash (but these are certainly not essential and for some photographers a flash isn't used even in the most demanding of situations!).

Hope this helps!

Ryan

Ryan book me on the course plz

Sure Graham. Can you PM me please with your email address.

Many thanks.

Hey everyone. I just thought is bump this thread. There's only a few spots left so get in quick if you fancy coming along!

Still a couple of spots left if anyone fancies it :)

Had a great day at the workshop yesterday. Brilliant weather, location and models. Ryan was always on hand chatting away and keeping us moving, the workshop certainly gave me a great deal of things to take away, think about and practice. (y)
